BLAKE CONFERENCE, "BLAKE IN THE ORIENT", will be held at Kyoto University on 29-30 November 2003.
We welcome abstracts of 300-400 words for papers of 20 minutes duration in the three concentric areas:
(1) the genealogy of reception of Blake in Japan in the areas of art, literature and philosophy;
(2) discourse of nation and empire in Blake's work, and other issues of othering and the exotic;
(3) broader consideration of the impact of European Romanticism in the East.

The deadline for submission of abstracts is 30 April 2003.
