@The 80th Annual Conference of the ELSJ will be held at Hiroshima University
on 24-25 May 2008. The guidelines for those members who wish to present
papers are as follows:
[For papers to be read in English]
| 1. | Proposals for papers will be accepted only from current Members of the Society. The annual membership fee of \7,000 should have been paid prior to the time of submission. | |
| 2. | A paper to be read cannot already have been published or presented orally by the time of the conference. | |
| 3. | When submitting a paper proposal, each of the items in [1] and [2] below should be submitted electronically as WORD files (.doc) or as Rich Text Formatted files (.rtf), and should be sent either by e-mail or by regular mail (see below). | |
| [1] | Two Versions of Synopsis The longer version must be approximately 1,500 words and the shorter version approximately 150 words in length. The title must be included in both versions, but neither version should include the author's name or acknowledgments anywhere. |

| [2] | Cover Letter This should include the author's name, affiliated institution, contact address, phone number, fax number, and e-mail address. |

| 4. | Screening of proposals and allocation of dates and rooms will be carried out by the Organizing Committee. Members who have submitted proposals will be informed of the Committee's decision approximately one month after the deadline given below. | |
| 5. | Participants are allotted 30 minutes to present their papers and an additional 10 minutes in which to respond to questions from the audience. | |
| 6. | The deadline for receipt of proposals is 1 November. | |
| 7. | If submitting by electronic mail, send the synopsis and cover letter to etaikai@elsj.org, with "Paper Proposal" in the Subject line. The filename must be 8 one-byte characters or less in length and must consist of letters of the alphabet and/or numbers. After receiving the submission, the Secretary of the Society will send an acknowledgement of receipt by electronic mail. If such an acknowledgment is not received within 3 days, there is a possibility that the proposal was not received, so please re-send it. Failure to do so could result in the proposal not being considered for review. | |
| 8. | If submitting by regular mail, save the synopsis and cover letter as a Word file (.doc) or as a Rich Text Format file (.rtf) on a floppy disk or other storage medium, and send it to the Secretary of the Society, 501 Kenkyusha Building, 9 Surugadai 2-chome, Kanda, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, 101-0062, Japan. Please write "Paper Proposal Enclosed" on the envelope. | |
